'58 Reunion

Thanks to Bob C. for posting the reunion photos. It was a great time and thanks to all the '58ers that worked so hard to make it a success.

I do wish Bob's blog was more successful. Great effort, however, for giving it a go.

Ron

Reunion

Well we had the first session of the reunion last night. Nancy Terry, Strobl's and all the rest deserve our appreciation for a job very well done.

I am posting a few photos of the folks and hope you will post others. I believe the stats are 170+/- out of 320, not bad.

Thursday, June 12, 2008

What if you started a blog (Bob C.) and nobody showed up? Sorry for the lack of activity, Bob. Maybe we can stimulate some interest at the '58 Class Reunion. Since I have no e-mail addresses, I can't help generate activity until that time.

58 Tiger Bloggers! How about adding a personal photo so we won't be "shocked" when we get together at the reunion? I'll go first.

Monday, June 2, 2008

It's fun to see to this blog and go down memory lane. TO: All of the "older" Tigers who are "thinking" about attending the 50th reunion for the Class of 1958: It is time to send in your registration. If you do not want to write a resume/biography - that's OK - we just need to know who is coming!

Greetings

Hello, members of the Tiger Class of '58. Ron Lease here, writing from Teton Valley, Idaho.

Thanks to Bob Cutter for getting this Blog going. Hope to see you all in September at our 50th.

Maybe Baby

As to the place where they served beer near the Vet’s I recall it was the Smoke Shack. If that is really correct or not I am not sure. The burger place slips my mind.

There was a place at 9th and North Avenue, north side, where Frank Rose and Roger Hall had lunch many times in Jr. High. Who recalls that place? A large hot dog with a coke and chips was 25 cents. It was near a bakery and a wholesale radio parts store.

My first car at GJHS

My first car to drive to HS was a 1930 Ford Model A coupe', no rumble seat. When I first got the car it was three-tone brown, fenders, body and top. I later painted it brown.

Memeory help?

For those of you who were Freshmen at the old HS on Gunnison, what was the name of the burger joint on 12th and Gunnison? I thought it was a big deal to walk there for lunch as a Freshman.

Also what was the name of the 3.2 beer place near the Vets Hospital?
It appears Joel Hiebert at least looked at this thing.

I am new at this so suggestions are always welcome.

Some of the folks I saw last night were: Ron Lease who now lives at least part time in GJ, Tom Coit, John Harris, Shirley Setter( for sake of my feeble brain I am going to use maiden names girls), Vern and Charlotte Zimmerman, Bob Strobl and Jackie Chiaro. There were 30 plus in attendance.

50th coming up

I attended the monthly get together in GJ last night of the 58 group. Had a wonderful time and saw several people I had not seen in some time.

Ruth Reed, who started 1st grade with me suggested we collect some informal memories of our school years. We had done this a few years ago on the occasion of our 50th from Redlands School and it was good fun.

That's the idea here, anything and everything about GJHS58.

Bob
